LBL Closes Fenton Campground Indefinitely

Land Between the Lakes - LBLGolden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes closed Fenton Campground for camping until further notice. The emergency decision came after assessing the damage from the storm that passed through the area Friday morning, April 4th, 2014.

Fenton boat ramp, fishing access, pavilion, and trailhead for the Central Hardwoods Scenic Trail remain open to the public.

“The large amount of fast moving rain water being funneled down into Fenton has overwhelmed our bridges, streams, and some campsites at Fenton,” stated Gary Hawkins, Recreation Program Manager at Land Between The Lakes. He continued, “This last storm made Fenton unsafe for campers.” All campers have evacuated the area. Camping remains available at the six designated campgrounds and twelve backcountry camping areas at Land Between The Lakes.
