Eleven different Austin Peay athletes rank in the top five of the Ohio Valley Conference rankings in 13 different events entering the weekend.

In addition, two Austin Peay outdoor records – the 4x100m relay and the 200m dash – have fallen during the spring, with Maikea Davis having a hand in both at the outdoor-opening Ole Miss Invite.

Although the talented freshman class comprises six of the athletes occupying top spots across the conference leaderboard, the Lady Govs upperclassmen also have done their fair share to contribute to Austin Peay’s success. Junior Natalie Olbderding ranks second in the OVC in the 400m hurdles with a 1:02.35 mark, set two weeks ago at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold.

Olberding set a then-personal best 1:02.63 mark at last season’s Hilltopper Relays, finishing third in the 400m hurdles. Sophomore Breigh Jones also placed third in the 400m event.

Freshman Kaylnn Pitts is the only Austin Peay athlete currently leading the conference in an event. She leads the OVC in the triple jump with a 12.52m (41’ 1”) mark, leading SIU Edwardsville’s Jatavia Wright by an inch and a half.

Outdoor action continues for the Lady Govs next weekend at the Gateway Classic in Edwardsville, IL.
