The Govs wrap up the regular season with a 12-6 mark (7-2 OVC) to secure third place in the conference.

Austin Peay will face sixth-seeded Eastern Illinois in the tournament’s opening match, Thursday.

The defending tournament champion, the Govs defeated Eastern Illinois 5-2 on March 29th, the first of five straight conference victories for Austin Peay to close out the conference slate. Belmont, Jacksonville State, SIU Edwardsville and Morehead State comprise the remainder of the tournament field.

The Govs had few answers for Louisville (20-5), the third-ranked squad in the American Athletic Conference by ITA standards. Junior Dimitar Ristovski, playing without usual doubles partner Iago Seffrin, put up a strong fight against Albert Wagner and Chris Simich, losing 8-5 at No. 2.

Junior Aleksas Tverijonas took a rare loss in singles play, falling 6-1, 6-1 to Alex Gornet at No. 3. Ristovski was down a set but leading his second set against Wagner before the match was suspended following Louisville clinching the win.

The Govs begin their championship defense against Eastern Illinois, 10:00am, Thursday, at Heflin Tennis Center.
