The grant assists schools in covering costs for transportation, facility admission fees, program costs, and dorm rental during the 2014-2015 school year. Grant amounts awarded depend on school matching funds, number of students, and number of planned programs.

Land Between The Lakes programs support the Kentucky and Tennessee States’ K-12 curriculum guidelines for science, arts and humanities, and social studies.

“Our programs offer students a hands-on experience to connect with nature,” said Richard Lomax, Environmental Education Specialist. “A field trip to Land Between The Lakes helps students gain a better understanding of science and history in an outdoor classroom. We make learning fun! It’s an experience they’ll always remember.”

The U.S. Forest Service, Friends of Land Between The Lakes, and Calloway County Homemakers sponsor the school grant program.
