Gooch, a 6-1 forward/center, led Franklin-Simpson High School last season with 13.8 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks per game. She was named to the All-Region 4 first-team by the Kentucky Basketball Coaches Association. Gooch also was selected to play in the KABC East/West All-Star Game.

“Our staff is extremely excited about Sydney joining this recruiting class,” said Daniels. “Sydney will bring added depth at the post position with guard skills. She has great court awareness, is a good passer, rebounder, gets after it defensively and makes things happen. Sydney is going to bring our team athleticism as well as leadership and I believe her best basketball lies ahead of her.”

Gooch, who is the sister of Western Kentucky All-American Chastity Gooch, joins the Lady Govs three signees from the early fall signing period: center Brianne Alexander, of Smyrna; guard Falon Baker, of Portland; and guard Madison Rich, of Bee Spring, KY.
