APSU Football’s Omar Williams dismissed for academic reasons

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Sophomore running back Omar Williams has been dismissed from the Austin Peay State University’s football team for academic reasons.

Williams finished 2013 with 636 yards rushing on 157 carries.

The Memphis, TN native (St. George’s Independent School) took over as starter when Tim Phillips suffered a torn bicep against UT Martin and started the season’s final four games. He had four 100-yard rushing performances for the season, including 179 against Jacksonville State.

Williams had just three carries in APSU’s initial scrimmage. The remainder of the carries went to rising sophomores Julian Franklin, Justin Roberson, Derien Stephens and Rashaan Coleman.

In the February signing period APSU added a 5-10, 185-pound Kendall Morris, who ran for nearly 2,000 yards as a senior at Francis Howell Central (St. Peters, MO)
