Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University track and field team concludes its pre-conference schedule with a Tuesday trip to Murray, KY, for the Battle of the Cumberland tri-meet, hosted by Murray State at Marshall Gage Track.

With just 10 events on the schedule, it will be a lighter meet to help the Lady Govs gear up for the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, May 2nd-3rd, hosted by SIU Edwardsville.

Austin Peay got a good look at the facility in Edwardsville, IL, this past weekend when the Lady Govs earned runner-up team honors in the Gateway Classic at Ralph Korte Stadium.

This will be Austin Peay’s second trip to Murray this season – the Lady Govs picked up 11 event victories at the Margaret Simmons Invitational back on April 5th, sweeping the top three spots in both the 100m hurdles and the 4x100m relay.

The battle to watch Tuesday will be in the high jump. Austin Peay freshman Briana Kelly and Murray State senior Katie Forshey are tied for second in the OVC entering the meet, each having posted identical 1.66m (5’ 5.25”) leaps two weeks ago at the Hilltopper Relays.

Last season’s Battle of the Cumberland was held in Clarksville, but the renovations at Governors Stadium pushed this year’s edition to Murray. Last year, the Lady Govs won the tri-meet after sweeping all five track events.
