Clarksville held 5th Annual Spring Eggstravaganza at Heritage Park on Saturday

Spring EggstravaganzaClarksville, TN – On Saturday the city of Clarksville held their 5th Annual Spring Eggstravaganza at Heritage Park. Thousands of Clarksville’s children came out to enjoy the Easter one day early. The event featured over 20,000 Easter eggs spread out over eight different egg hunting sessions on the City of Clarksville’s baseball fields.

“This is our fifth year having theĀ Spring Eggstravaganza at Heritage Park. We have over 20,000 eggs, inflatable’s, petting zoo, and a visit by the Easter Bunny of course. We’re looking to have a great time today,” said Matthew Dixon, Special Events Coordinator for the City of Clarksville’s Department of Parks and Recreation.

The city of Clarksville has been celebrating Easter for quite some time according to Dixon, “We’ve actually been doing an Easter egg hunt for the last 20 years and some capacity at some park or another. Five years ago special events team decided to take it over, and we’ve been running it ever since.”

The city was expecting between 3,000 and 5,000 kids to show up to participate in the annual egg hunt, a number they easily reached.

The Easter Bunny was on hand to help the children celebrate! ā€œIt’s been wonderful meeting all the young children at the Spring Eggstravaganza today,ā€ said the Easter Bunny. ā€œI always take time form my busy schedule preparing for Easter Sunday to come to Clarksville and help the city celebrate Easter early.ā€ He continued, “It was hard work preparing the over 20,000 eggs for the city celebration and arriving early so that I would have plenty of time to hide them. I hope everyone had a wonderful time!”

Dixon wanted to offer special thanks to all the community and civic groups who stepped up to help make the annual celebration possible! ā€œThe event would not be possible without the generous support and assistance of the our volunteer groups, the Hui Hawai`i O Tenesi Hawaiian Civic Club; The 180 church; First Baptist Church; and the Texas Roadhouse, who also donated over 400 prizes to be given away today.ā€

Scattered among the 20,000 eggs were special price eggs shaped like baby chicks. Inside were slips of paper which entitled the bearer to prizes which included candy, gift baskets, coupons and other gift certificates, as well as eight bicycles.

Pony Pals Party Ponies and FriendsĀ were on hand with one of their petting zoos. The company hires out their pony carousels and mobile petting zoo’s to events all across Middle Tennessee. ā€œWe go all over the Middle Tennessee area in a three-hour radius. But we are from Clarksville,ā€ said owner Heather Loudano. ā€Today we’ve got Lamas, Goats, Sheep. Along with some younger animals; some kids (baby goats), lambs, a Holstein heifer calf, ducks, turkeys, chickens and bunnies,ā€ she said.

Loudano clearly loves her job, ā€œIt’s nice to have a business that you can combine your love of animals and love of children; and be able to share it with the community. Children actually get to have the experience of being around the animals. As much is Clarksville is surrounded by the agricultural industry local families; especially military families don’t get a lot of hands-on experience with farm animals. And that is something I would like to change.ā€ She continued, ā€œClarksville has fallen in love with us since we have started this. I started the Pony carousels and the petting zoo, because I would go around all the local events and they didn’t have them here. And where I am from in Michigan, you know you always have a petting zoo and the pony carousel. And I just really felt that this is what Clarksville was missing!ā€

Loudano also owns the Clarksville-Area Riding Academy which offers a riding lesson program from ages three to adults. If you would like to get in touch with Pony Pals Party Ponies and Friends you can visit their website at PonyPalsPartyPonies.com, or contact them by phone at 270.498.1614.
