No Upsets On First Day Of District 10-AAA Baseball And Softball Tournaments

Clarksville, TN – The high school baseball and softball regular seasons came to a close Thursday and the District 10 baseball and softball tournaments began Friday, May 2nd.

In softball, the regular season champions, Clarksville High Lady Wildcats hosted two games of the tournament at their field.

The baseball tournament is double elimination, with a winners and losers bracket, hosted at the district’s number one and two seeds sites. The top seeded Clarksville High Wildcats hosted two games as well as the second seeded Rossiew Hawks.

District 10-AAA Softball

The Clarksville High Lady Wildcats had no problems grounding the Rossview Lady Hawks Friday, 13-1. Heather Norris continued her dominance from the mound with another win. Rossview’s Chelsea Moorehead picked up the loss.

Lady Wildcats Haley Bearden, Clare McGrady and McKenzie Rose all hit RBIs in the game. Halie Upchurch got the only hit for the Lady Hawks.

The Kenwood Lady Knights were equally impressive defeating the Northwest Lady Vikings, 8-1. Precious Poindexter had a stellar performance, picking up the win as a pitcher and hitting four RBIs in the game. Imani Largin also produced multiple hits.

Henry County beat West Creek 10-0.
Northeast topped Springfield 8-1

On Monday, May 5th, the tournament will continue with the Kenwood Lady Knights traveling to face the Clarksville Lady Wildcats and the Henry County Lady Patriots playing at the Northeast Lady Eagles. Both games begin at 5:30pm.

District 10-AAA Baseball

The top two seeds successfully defended their home fields. The Clarksville High Wildcats pounced on the Northwest Vikings, 6-2 and the Rossview Hawks crowned the Kenwood Knights, 11-1.

The Henry County Patriots defeated the West Creek Coyotes, 5-0 and the Northeast Eagles beat Springfield, 10-0 to also advance in the winners bracket of the tournament.

Next, the top seeded Wildcats will continue to play at home against the Henry County Patriots and the Eagles will fly across town to face the Rossview Hawks. Both games will be played Monday, May 5th at 7:00pm.

The losers from Friday will also compete in the loser’s bracket Monday to avoid being eliminated from the tournament.

The West Creek Coyotes will play the Northwest Vikings at Clarksville High School and the Kenwood Knights will travel to Rossview High to play Springfield. Both games start at 4:30pm.
