The 5’9″, 209lbs Sankey is a solid, compact running back with balance and good vision. He reads blocks well, has lateral agility and is excellent at hitting the hole. He also has good hands to catch throws

In the NFL Combine, he had a 126 inch broad jump, 6.75 seconds in the 3 cone drill and a quick 4.0 seconds in the 20 yard shuttle.

At Washington, Sankey set a school record with 1,870 rushing yards in 2013. He also set the school record for yards per game (143.8) and rushing attempts (327). Additionally, he broke the marks for career rushing touchdowns (37) and single-game rushing attempts (40) while tying three other school records: career touchdowns (38), career 200-yard rushing games (4) and single-season 200-yard rushing games (3).

Sankey was named a second-team All-America by the Associated Press, Walter Camp and the Football Writers, while earning third-team honors from Athlon. He was also a first-team All-Pac-12 and second-team Academic All-Pac-12 pick. He finished the season fourth in the nation in rushing yards, rushing yards per game and carries, as well as sixth in rushing touchdowns.

In his sophomore year, he rushed for 1,439 yards, then the third-highest total in UW history.

Sankey will join former UW quarterback Jake Locker in Nashville Tennessee.

He is expected to help replace 2008 first-round pick Chris Johnson, who was released this offseason, along with veterans Shonn Greene, Dexter McCluster, Jackie Battle and Leon Washington.
