Austin Peay State University Foundation selects new members to serve for 2014

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Foundation has selected 10 new members for 2014.

The APSU Foundation provides the structure through which the University can work directly with special volunteers and community leaders to enhance the financial well being of the University. The Foundation’s purpose is to financially support the University.

The Foundation is a separate entity and is chartered by the state, with the authority to receive private gifts in support of the University.

Through its executive committee, the Foundation makes its own policy decisions. The University provides administrative support to the Foundation.

Those who have accepted the nominations to serve include the following:

Dr. Jeannie Beauchamp, of Clarksville, Tennessee, is a pediatric dentist with Clarksville Pediatric Dentistry. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists. She also serves on the TennCare Medical Advisory Committee and the Clarksville Housing Authority and is a member of the Clarksville (Sunrise) Rotary Club.

Betty Barnett (’81), of Clarksville, Tennessee, is co-owner of the Kentucky-Tennessee Livestock Market. She is a member of the Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association, the Montgomery County Cattle Association and the Livestock Marketing Association. Barnett also serves on the Agriculture Committee for Montgomery County, the 4-H Area Committee and the APSU Farm Advisory Committee.

John Bartee Jr. (’92), of Cedar Hill, Tennessee, is vice president of Agriculture and Commercial Lending for Planters Bank. He currently serves as co-chair of the APSU Farm Advisory Committee, and in 2012, he served as team leader for the United Way of the Greater Clarksville Area fundraising campaign. He was a member of the Leadership Robertson County Class of 2008 and the Leadership Clarksville Class of 2009-2010. He is the chair of Leadership Clarksville’s Agriculture and Industry Day.

Donald Dority, of Clarksville, Tennessee, is a retired pharmacist and retired CEO of Cumberland Dialysis Center. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, past president of the Montgomery County Pharmacist Association, past president of the Harriett Cohn Mental Health Center Board of Directors, past president of the Credit Bureau of Clarksville Board of Directors, past board member of the Montgomery County Health Department, past director of the Clarksville Jaycees and past director of the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce. Before his retirement, he was the president and owner of Town & Country Drugs, Inc., and he endowed the Town and Country Drug Scholarship in Physics at APSU in 1987. He was also named an APSU Foundation Associate in 1980.

Kevin Fee (’09), of Clarksville, Tennessee, is the manger of the Clarksville Welcome Center for the Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention and Visitors Bureau. He is a member of the National Broadcasting Association, the Clarksville Young Professionals, and the APSU National Alumni Association.

Dr. Camille Holt (’67, ’71), of Nashville, Tennessee, is a retired APSU and Vanderbilt professor of education. While at APSU, she served as special assistant to the president, the elementary education coordinator and assistant vice president for development. She is also active in her community, volunteering with Room in the Inn, the Nashville Food Project, Alive Hospice, the Nashville Rescue Mission and Habitat for Humanity.

Ron Morton (’70), of Sumter, S.C., is the owner of the largest number of H&R Block franchises in the country, with 30 offices in South Carolina and others scattered across Tennessee, West Virginia, Ohio and Indiana. He served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Africa, where the basketball team he coached won the Tunisian national championship.

Harold “Red” Roberts  (’71, ’73), of Nashville, Tennessee, is a retired school administrator and head football coach. He is also a retired colonel with the Tennessee Army National Guard, serving in Afghanistan from 2003-2004. He is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the National Guard Association and the Military Officers Association of America.

Stephanie Tharpe, of Gallatin, Tennessee, is a self-employed photographer. She contributes to Fairvue Living Magazine and is a member of her neighborhood’s welcome committee. She is vice-president of education for Toastmasters International and a 2013-14 team captain for the United States Tennis Association.

Bob Wint (’11), of Madison, Tennessee, is a financial advisor. A U.S. Navy veteran, he also is a member of the American Legion and the Free and Accepted Masons, Corinthian Lodge #414. He previously served as a congressional campaign finance manager.
