Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUNorman, OK –  Marco Iten, who captured medalist honors in four spring tournaments including the NCAA Auburn Regional, has been named to the Division I PING All-Southeast Region team, announced Thursday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Iten, who finished 13th at the 2013 NCAA Tempe Regional, is amidst a spectacular senior season.

In fact, over his last six tournaments entering the NCAA Championship Iten owns a 71.0 scoring average. He has shot under par in his last five rounds, leading to the Ohio Valley Conference championship and last week’s Auburn Regional verdict against 18 Top 100 (Golfstat.com).

He was the only player in Auburn last weekend to shoot below par each round, finishing with a 67 to clinch a four-shot victory and earning that region’s individual bid to the NCAA Championship.

In addition to the OVC and Auburn Regional wins, Iten was co-medalist at the Talis Park Challenge, March 16th-17th, in Naples, Florida, and the Old Waverly Intercollegiate, April 7th-8th, in West Point, Mississippi.

Iten was named OVC Golfer of the Year for his efforts in the 2014 championship. He also was selected All-OVC for the third time. In addition, Iten was chosen APSU’s 2013-14 Most Outstanding Male Athlete.

The Niederglatt, Switzerland native, who played in all 47 available tournaments as a Governor, finished his senior season with a 72.24 overall scoring average. It is the second straight year an APSU golfer earned all-region—Dustin Korte earned such honors a year ago.
