Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUHutchinson, KS – Austin Peay State University’s Marco Iten fired his second straight round of two-over par 72, May 25th at the 6941-yard, par 70, Prairie Dunes Country Club in the 2014 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships.

With his two-round total of 144, Iten sits in a tie for 75th place – out of 156 total golfers – with one round of play left for him to make the cut for the finals with round four of competition (low 40 individuals and ties) being canceled due to multiple weather delays.

The NCAA will make every effort to get all 156 players 54 holes of play.

After completion of the second round May 25th, teams 16-30 and the high three individuals will begin third-round play after the completion of Round 2.

If play is unable to be completed, all scores in that round will be declared null and void and round three will be cut down to include only teams 1-15 and the six low individuals not on those teams (based on non-sudden death tie-breaking procedures) to determine the eight teams for match play and the individual champion.

As for Iten’s second round, the recently graduated senior, opened the round with five straight birdies, but closed out the front nine with bogies on holes six and eight, with pars on seven and nine to make the turn at two-over 37.

Iten would open his second nine holes of the day with seven straight pars, before picking up his first and only birdy of the round on the par-five 17th hole to get back to one-over on his round and three-over for the tournament.

But just like is his first round on May 24th, Iten carded a bogie on his final hole of the day to finish at two-over 72.

Having to try to get in 36 holes on May 25th, Iten was able to get in seven holes in his third round before lightning suspended play at 6:45pm local time.

He is one over par in those seven holes with bogies on holes three and five and a birdie on seven.

As he waits to resume his third round, Item currently sits in a tie for 81st place with a five-over par score.
