Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include: City Pools Now Open, Summer Youth Program Registration Opens May 27th, *NEW* Fun with Fido and Sleep Under the Stars rescheduled.

City Pools Now Open

Girl in swimming poolThe City’s five outdoor public pools opened for the summer season on Saturday, May 24th. Do you have your pool pass?

We also offer daily admission prices of $5.00 per person or $3.00 per person after 3:00pm, at all five locations:

  • Beachaven Pool
  • Bel-Aire Pool
  • New Providence Pool
  • Swan Lake Pool
  • Smith Pool

Summer Youth Program Registration Opens May 27th

The 2014 Summer Youth Program will begin June 2nd with the opening of 15 program sites, including three sites just for teens, and will end July 11th. This year’s theme is “Pumping up with Summer Fun!”

Summer Youth Program is a free six-week day camp-type program offered each summer to youths, ages 6-16. Gyms at various locations are staffed with directors and assistants, who will help with activities and provide free, instructional classes such as gymnastics and karate.

Registration is easy! Register on-site beginning at 9:00am on the following dates:

  • Community Center sites: May 27th
  • School sites: May 30th

*NEW* Fun with Fido

We are excited to bring you and your four-legged family member a new event series: Fun with Fido! Fun with Fido will kick off its season with an afternoon of contests, prizes and dog-related vendors at Heritage Park Bark Park from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, Saturday, June 21st.

This new series will include a “pooch pool party” at Swan Lake Pool on August 9th, shopping event at the Clarksville Downtown Market on September 20th and then the final event of the series at King’s Run Bark Park at Liberty Park on October 11th.

Sleep Under the Stars

Family Campout has been rescheduled to a new date

Sleep under the StarsThe City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s Spring Family Campout at Billy Dunlop Park has been rescheduled. The Family Campout originally scheduled to be held Saturday, May 17th, through Sunday, May 18th, at the park located at 1930 East Boy Scout Road will now be held Saturday, June 21st through Sunday, June 22nd at the same location.

Activities will remain the same and will include a bonfire, games, ghost stories and lots of fun! Family Campout will begin at 2:00pm Saturday and run through 9:00am the following morning.

Families who were originally registered for this event still have spots reserved. If this new date does not work with your family’s schedule, please contact the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department at 931.645.7476 for a refund.

The Family Campout is $10.00 per person or $40.00 per family (up to 6 members) and will include an afternoon and evening of games and fun as well as a hot dog dinner and breakfast provided Sunday morning. Families will need to provide their own tent and sleeping materials. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
