Sperka has spent the past two years working as a field guide and wildlife photograph er at the Thanda Private Game Reserve in Northern Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. Nashville’s Mike Fiers Earns 8th Quality Start in Loss
Nashville, TN – The first-place Nashville Sounds (31-27) had their four-game winning streak come to an end Sunday afternoon at Greer Stadium, as the visiting Iowa Cubs worked a pair of two-run homers for the 5-2 road victory.
The I-Cubs first touched Sounds starter Mike Fiers (6-3) for a home run in the second inning. Christian Villanueva’s blast to left field scored Chris Valaika, who singled to lead off the inning for the initial 2-0 advantage.
Nashville, TN – Tennessee’s annual Free Fishing Day is Saturday, June 7th when anyone may fish free without a license in the state’s public waters.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency provides the free day in hopes of increasing interest in fishing. The day allows anyone the opportunity to try this great outdoor sport, especially children. In addition, children ages 15 and younger may fish without a license beginning on Free Fishing Day through the following Friday (June 13th).
Clarksville, TN – The economic data were mixed. The estimate of real GDP growth for the first quarter was revised down to a -1.0% annual rate (vs. +0.1% in the advance estimate). Most of the revision was due to a slower pace of inventory growth, which ought to pave the way for increased production in 2Q14.
Slower inventory growth subtracted 1.6 percentage points from overall GDP growth (vs. -0.6 ppt in the advance estimate), while a wider trade deficit subtracted 1.0 percentage point (vs. -0.8 ppt in the advance estimate.
