Clarksville Police reports Traffic Fatality on Ted Crozier Boulevard

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Sunday, June 8th, 2014 at around 2:10am, Donnie Hodges (61yrs old) was operating a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on Ted Crozier Boulevard and lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason.

Hodges vehicle left the roadway to the right side and struck a stop sign at the intersection of October Road and then struck a guardrail. Hodge’s vehicle flipped onto the right side and the crash scene was located by a passersby driving through the area. «Read the rest of this article»

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds continue their #LastCheerAtGreer with the team’s fifth homestand of the year at Greer Stadium, which begins this Monday, June 9th.

The eight-game homestand features two teams that haven’t appeared in Nashville since 2012. The Sounds welcome the Reno Aces (Arizona Diamondbacks affiliate) for four games spanning June 9th-12th and the Tacoma Rainiers (Seattle Mariners affiliate) from June 13th-June 16th.

Montgomery Central Little League’s Diamond Divas rally late to beat Lady Vols 7-4

 

Montgomery Central Little LeagueCunningham, TN – The Lady Vols softball team played host to the Diamond Divas Friday night, June 6th, at the Montgomery Central Little League peewee field. The game started at 6:00pm.

Mallory Ashby got things started in the top of the 1st for the Divas with an in the park home run. The Lady Vols struck back in the bottom of the 1st with hits from Mattie Carney, Kristin Bluedorn and Ryliee Bly to score two.

With one out and two on, the Divas got out of the inning when a line drive was caught at the pitchers mound by Emma Lee Blackwell and quickly tossed to first catching the runner off base for the double play.

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – The Nashville Sounds closed out their brief cross-state road trip on the short end of a 9-4 defeat to the Memphis Redbirds on Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park.

Nashville (34-30),which split the four-game set against their division rivals, continued its struggles in day games this season, falling to 7-17 in afternoon affairs. The Sounds were out-hit, 15-5, in the contest.

Tennessee Titans Individual Game Tickets to go on sale at Fort Campbell’s Leisure Travel Services August 2nd

 

Tennessee TitansMorale, Welfare and RecreationFort Campbell, KY – Tennessee Titans football tickets will be here soon. Single tickets will be sold beginning at 9:00am on Saturday, August 2nd.

Only the tickets that remain from the season ticket sale will be available for purchase on this day; we expect the number of available tickets to be limited.

The cost for single tickets will be $80.00 each. There is a purchase limit of four tickets per game in accordance with LP Field Box Office standards.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s 28th Annual Governors Golf Classic and Partner Celebration Dinner, set for June 27th, has emerged as Clarksville’s premier golf outing to benefit Governors Athletics, presented by Budweiser of Clarksville, Swan Lake Golf Course and the Clarksville Country Club.

A complete field of 72 teams has been reserved – 36 teams to play Swan Lake and 36 teams to play the Country Club – with both rounds teeing off at 10:30am in the four-player, best-ball scramble.

Tennessee Department of Agriculture reports Putnam County and Five additional East Tennessee Counties quarantined for Emerald ash borer

 

The Tennessee Department of AgricultureNashville, TN – A quarantine for Emerald Ash Borer, an invasive insect that destroys ash trees has been expanded to include another Middle Tennessee county and five more northeastern Tennessee counties. Putnam, Sullivan, Washington, Unicoi, Carter and Johnson counties have been added to the list of areas restricted for the movement of ash trees and ash tree products.

This brings the total number of Tennessee counties under a state and federal EAB quarantine to 27.

Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH) brings the healing power of planting to Fort Campbell

Blanchfield Army Hospital - BACH - Fort Campbell KYFort Campbell, KY – “This is the first of its kind in Army Medicine” proclaimed Blanchfield Army Community Hospital chief of nutrition care Lt. Col. James Pulliam as more than 20 volunteers used pickaxes, post hole diggers and shovels to break ground May 23rd for a therapeutic garden at the Fort Campbell hospital.

After years of planning, Pulliam, BACH staff and horticultural expert Dana Chango, set their plans in motion to create the first therapeutic horticultural program and garden at an Army medical facility.

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUBeloit, WI – Kane County Cougars third baseman Jordan Hankins, a 2013 Austin Peay alumnus, was named to the Midwest League All-Star Game, Tuesday.

The 2014 event will be held Tuesday, June 17th and hosted by the West Michigan Whitecaps in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
