Clarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.
This weeks highlights include: The Clarksville Blueway, World’s Largest Swimming Lesson and Registration for the 2nd Annual Rally on the Cumberland Canoe and Kayak Race is Underway.
The Clarksville Blueway
The Clarksville Blueway provides river access for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, tubing, wading, wildlife viewing, and other recreational opportunities, while connecting to numerous local parks, McGregor Park, Trice Landing, Robert Clark Park, and Liberty Park.
When using these public access points, Clarksville Blueway users are encouraged to observe environmentally sound recreational use of this natural resource. Blueway users should always be considerate of neighbors, leave no trace of their presence, and always taking out more trash than brought into the area.

World’s Largest Swimming Lesson
City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation to take part in “World’s Largest Swimming Lesson”
The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department invites citizens to take part, as waterparks, pools and other aquatic facilities across the world attempt to break the Guinness World Record of the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson on Friday, June 20th at Beachaven, New Providence, Swan Lake and Smith pools at 10:00am.
According to the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ website, “Swimming is a life-saving skill for children and a vital tool to prevent drowning, the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for children ages 1-14.
Participants can register online at recpro.cityofclarksville.com or the day of the event. The World’s Largest Swim Lesson is free, however if you would like to stay and swim at the pool afterward, you must pay the regular admission price which is $5.00.
2nd Annual Rally on the Cumberland Canoe and Kayak Race
Registration Going On Now
The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will host the Canoe and Kayak Race on July 12th at Liberty Park. The race will be held in heats beginning at 8:00am at the Montgomery County Conservation Club, located at 1182 Seven Mile Ferry Road, and finishing at Freedom Point in Liberty Park.
Racers must arrive by 6:45am the day of the race to check in and will be transported from Liberty Park to the Conservation Club to begin the race. Participants must provide their own canoe.
Boats may be rented from Blueway Adventures, LLC (931.320.8466) or Run-A-Muck Outfitters (931.551.6606) prior to completing registration for the race. Cost per person to enter the race is $10.00 for ages 13-17 and $20.00 for those 18 and older.
The deadline to enter is July 1st so register early! Registration can be completed online at recpro.cityofclarksville.com by clicking the “Events & Family Entertainment” tab, and then selecting the appropriate category from under the “Family Entertainment” category.
