Clarksville’s inaugural Tri Clarksville Triathlon to take place August 23rd, 2014

Clarksville Montgomery County Convention and Visitors BureauClarksville, TN – There is still time to register, and receive a discounted rate, for Clarksville’s inaugural Tri Clarksville Triathlon, coming up Saturday, August 23rd, 2014.

Hundreds of bikers, swimmers and runners will test their strength and ability along the Cumberland River and the roads of Montgomery County. The route will begin and end at Liberty Park and will consist of both Intermediate and Sprint races.

The Tri Clarksville Triathlon, presented by Team Magic, The Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention & Visitors Bureau and the City of Clarksville, will be held that Saturday beginning at 7:00am with both races occurring concurrently.

Depending on one’s athletic stamina, the Sprint will include a 400 meter swim, 20 kilometer bike and 5K run, and the Intermediate will offer a 1500 meter swim, 40 kilometer bike and 10 kilometer run. The swim will start at the Clarksville Marina at Liberty Park with participants diving into the Cumberland River.

From the swim, challengers will transition to the bike in an out-and-back course. The run portion will span from Liberty Park to Riverside Drive in an out-and-back course. The event will conclude at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.

If taking on the whole challenge by yourself isn’t up your alley, relay teams are being accepted for either race. And, as a thank you to our military, a special military discount is being offered. Registration and course maps are available online at www.team-magic.com/events/28

Volunteers are also needed for the event. Non-profits are encouraged to volunteer as a group and, in turn, will receive a donation to their charity from the proceeds of the race.
