Nashville Venom defeat Columbus Lions 44-39, play for PIFL Championship

Nashville VenomNashville, TN – The Nashville Venom Professional Indoor Football Team defeated the Columbus Lions, 44-39, in front of enthusiastic fans at Municipal Auditorium Saturday night.

This puts the Venom into the Championship game of the PIFL next Saturday night against the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks at 7:00pm.

The snakes sent the Lions back home, snuffing out their chance to get to the PIFL championship game.

WR Jordan Jolly grabbed nine catches for 184 yards and two TDs.

DB Kenny Veal grabbed an interception in the end zone to seal the deal late in the fourth quarter to allow the Venom to comeback from an early 24-10 deficit.

That pickup led to the Venom bite that gave them the victory over the pesky Lions team 44-39. The game was full of mistakes by both teams. The Venom was called for 10 penalties for 107 yards. They also turned the ball over twice.

“We have been pushing for more intensity from the DBs for the last two weeks,” said Venom Head Coach Billy Back. “Kenny stepped up and made the game-saving play. That was icing on the cake. Big players make big plays at big times. I feel like we [over thought] the game plan for them. This was a huge win for us. Now we have to finish the deal next week.”
