Austin Peay State University Lady Govs Golf to play in six fall events

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s golf team will play six fall events, including a trio of 54-hole events.

The Lady Govs will open the 2014 fall campaign, September 8th-9th, in the Drake Creek Classic, hosted by Murray State, at Drake Creek Golf Club in Ledbetter, Kentucky.

The tourney will consistent of 36 holes, Monday, September 8th, followed by 18 on the tourney’s final day.

After a short break the Lady Govs will head to Carbondale, Illinois, to play in the Saluki Shootout, a six-team 36-hole one-day event, September 21st, at Hickory Ridge Golf Course.

A week later, the Lady Govs again will head south for the 54-hole Chris Banister Golf Classic, hosted by Jacksonville State, September 28th-30th, at Silver Lakes in Glencoe, Alabama.

After a short break APSU will finish with a trio of familiar October tournaments. The Lady Govs’ first October event will be their own as they will play host to the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, October, 13th-14th, at the Clarksville Country Club.

The next week will see APSU again return to Old Fort Golf Club in Murfreesboro for the 54-hole Blue Raider Invitational, October 20th-21st.

The fall schedule will conclude a week later when the Lady Govs participate in the UAB Beach Blast at the Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

The Lady Govs figure to be young in 2014-15, with the Fall schedule offering an opportunity for some to gain experience. The Lady Govs will be led by two-time All-Ohio Valley Conference performer Jessica Cathey, a rising junior.

Also back is senior Meghan Mueller plus a contingent of youngsters—sophomores Amber Bosworth, Morgan Kauffman, Morgan Gardner and Kelsey Schutt along with freshmen AnnaMichelle Moore and Anna Pope.

“We are looking forward to playing some familiar and challenging golf courses,” APSU coach Sara Robson said. “The players, having seen some of the courses, should give them confidence and allow our returning players to show the freshman what they have learned in past experiences.”
