Northbound Ramp Traffic to Yield
Nashville, TN – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews plan to adjust the I-65 northbound on-ramp at Trinity Lane in Nashville.
The acceleration lane will be removed, and yield signs will be posted to alert motorists to the change.
Weather permitting, crews have tentatively scheduled to start implementing the yield condition on Tuesday, August 5th.
The on-ramp will be closed overnight Monday, August 4th, from 8:00pm until Tuesday, August 5th, at 5:00am, to allow crews to move the barrier wall and prepare for the adjustment. The ramp adjustment is occurring earlier than expected in an effort to expedite the project and avoid weekend lane closures. Once the new traffic pattern is in place, motorists entering I-65 northbound from Trinity Lane will yield to oncoming traffic before merging into the three open lanes of travel.
Motorists already traveling on I-65 North should also be aware of the changes to merging traffic. All drivers are reminded the speed limit in the work zone is 45 mph.
This is part of the final stages of the widening project that will expand I-65 from six to ten lanes, adding much needed capacity for the more than 142,000 vehicles that travel this section every day. The $50 million project is expected to be finished in the fall of 2015.
