Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for September 4th through September 6th, 2014

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer. There are programs for children and adults.

Some of the upcoming events include: Port Royal History Walk, Woodland Wildlife, Wildflower Hike, Stellaluna: A Baby Bat Story, Fall Wildflowers, and Easy Birding Walk.

Thursday, September 4th

Port Royal History Walk

Time: 9:00am–10:00am
Ages: 8 – adult

Join us for a walk around Port Royal Historic Area. Meet at the upper parking lot (beside the Visitor Center).

Reservations By: 4:30pm September 3rd.

Woodland Wildlife

Time: 4:30pm–5:00pm
Ages: All ages

Learn about the wildlife you might see when you hike our trails through this indoor video showing.

Friday, September 5th

Port Royal Plant Walk

Time: 1:00pm–2:00pm
Ages: 10 – adult

Walk the River Bottom Trail (1/2 mile) and learn the trees and other plants of the area. Meet at the River Bottom Trail parking lot.

Fall Wildflowers

Time: 3:30pm–4:30pm
Ages: adult

Want to learn to identify the flowers of our fall fields and roadsides but can’t take one of our wildflower hikes? Learn about them through this video showing.

Wildflower Hike

Time: 6:00pm–7:00pm
Ages: 8-adult

Learn some of the fall wildflowers on this easy ½ mile walk.

Stellaluna: A Baby Bat Story

Easy Birding Walk

Time: 6:00pm–7:00pm
Ages: 12-adult

If you don’t want to come out for one of our early bird hikes, bring your binoculars and join us for this easy evening walk.

What’s Around The Lake at Night?

Time: 7:30pm–8:30pm

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs Information

Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed. Programs with no reservations by the deadline will be canceled.

All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless another site is listed.

Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for each three children).

Age limits are definite – please do not sign up a child who is younger or older than the age limits given.

Dunbar Cave State Park is located at 401 Old Dunbar Cave Road, Clarksville Tennessee.
