Hot List

Northwest High School VikingsHow about those Northwest Vikings? The new look, green and vegas-gold Northwest Vikings football team are one of two District 10-AAA teams with a 2-0 start this season.

A new era has begun under new head coach, Vernon Wright, and it has begun with two wins against Stewart County and Todd County Central. The Vikings offense has scored 59 points in the two games and the defense has held opponents to only 21 points.

The Springfield Yellow Jackets are also 2-0. The wins over Greenbrier and Gallatin already match their total wins last season.

Week 2 Review

The Henry County Patriots are the only other District 10-AAA team, besides the Vikings and Yellow Jackets, to pick up a win in week two. The win was a rebound from a 31-21 loss to Beech.

The win gives the Patriots the same record (1-1) as the West Creek Coyotes, Clarksville High Wildcats and Montgomery Central Indians, all of whom lost this week.

The Rossview Hawks mounted a comeback that came up short against the McGavock Raiders. The Kenwood Knights ran into a red hot Pearl Cohn team and lost as well.

The Hawks and Knights are two of five local teams who have not earned a win yet.
