The Lady Govs dropped a pair of matches to Alabama (5-0) and Lipscomb (2-0) over Labor Day weekend to fall to 1-3-0 on the season.

Austin Peay, which scored five goals in its lone victory against Chattanooga, have been held without a goal in its three other regular-season contests and in both exhibition matches prior to the season’s beginning.

In addition to offensive woes, the Lady Govs remain undecided between the pipes, with three keepers having logged significant action through the season’s first four contests. Freshman Lindsey Todd owns Austin Peay’s lone win and has the best goals-against average (2.00) among the netminders, but incumbent Nikki Filippone has a team-best 13 saves, seven of which she made in the first half alone against Alabama last Friday.

Kennesaw State (1-2-1) was winless through its first three matches before securing a 2-1 win against South Alabama, Sunday, at the Trojan Classic. Sophomore forward Maggie Gaughan picked up Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors last week after scoring twice in the Owls victory against the Jaguars.

Middle Tennessee (1-1-1) was the back half of Alabama’s road trip last weekend, drawing with the Crimson Tide, 2-2, Sunday following Austin Peay’s Friday loss to the Southeastern Conference foe. Junior Grace Summers scored four goals last weekend to earn Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honors, while junior keeper Kelsey Brouwer was awarded Defensive Player of the Week thanks to her school-record 14 save performance against Alabama.

Last Time Against This Weekend’s Opponents

This will be Austin Peay’s first meeting with Middle Tennessee since 2009, when the Lady Govs dropped a 5-0 decision, September 18th, in Clarksville; Mackenzie Ladd made 11 saves for Austin Peay. All-time, Austin Peay is 0-3-0 against the Blue Raiders.

This will be the first meeting between Austin Peay and Kennesaw State.

Keep An Eye On

  • In four matches this season, Austin Peay has taken just five corner kicks, including none against Alabama. Conversely, opponents have taken 23 corners against the Lady Govs.
  • Of the 12 goals allowed by Austin Peay this season, nine have come in the first half.
  • Summers has all four goals for Middle Tennessee this season – no other Blue Raider has more than a point on their season tally so far.
  • Sophomore Gina Fabbro needs two goals to tie Jocelyn Murdoch (2008, 10-12) for tenth all-time.
