Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for September 9th through September 14th, 2014

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer. There are programs for children and adults.

Some of the upcoming events include: Kids Discover Bats, Full Moon Rising, Bat Walk, Bird Hike, Nature Hike At Port Royal, Evening Nature Hike and Trees Of Dunbar Cave.

Tuesday, September 9th

Kids Discover Bats!

Time: 6:30pm–7:00pm
Ages: 4-adult

Bring your parents and learn about bats through this funny DVD showing.

Reservations By: 4:30pm September 7th.

Bat Walk

Time: 7:00pm–7:30pm
Ages: 4- adult

We will walk a short way along the lake and see if we can find some bats flying around.

Full Moon Rising

Time: 7:45pm–8:30pm
Ages: All ages

The moon is full tonight, join us as we watch it rise in the sky.

Wednesday, September 10th

Bird Hike

Time: 8:00am–9:30am
Ages: 9-adult

Bring your binoculars and we will learn to identify birds by sight and sound.

Thursday, September 11th

Nature Hike At Port Royal

Time: 12:30pm–1:30pm
Ages: All ages

Learn about plants and animals that call this area home. Meet at the River Bottom Trail parking lot.

Friends Of Dunbar Cave Meeting

Time: 6:00pm–7:00pm

Friday, September 12th

Nature Hike At Port Royal

Time: 4:00pm–5:50pm
Ages: All ages

Learn about plants and animals that call this area home. Meet at the River Bottom Trail parking lot.

Saturday, September 13th

Evening Nature Hike

Time: 6:30pm-7:30pm
Ages: All ages

This time of day is great for seeing wildlife such as deer, owls and bats. Come walk the 1 mile trail and beat the heat.

Sunday, September 14th

Trees Of Dunbar Cave

Time: 1:00pm–2:30pm
Ages: 5 – adult

Learn to identify the trees around you.

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs Information

Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed. Programs with no reservations by the deadline will be canceled.

All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless another site is listed.

Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for each three children).

Age limits are definite – please do not sign up a child who is younger or older than the age limits given.

Dunbar Cave State Park is located at 401 Old Dunbar Cave Road, Clarksville Tennessee.
