Clarksville Academy Girls Golf repeat as district champions, boys runner-up

 

Clarksville Academy CougarsClarksville, TN – It was a good day for Clarksville Academy’s golf program, September 9th at Swan Lake Golf Course, with the girls team repeating as District 10-A tournament champions; while the boys team finishing runner-up to Lipscomb Academy.

With the championship and runner-up finish, the two squads will advance to the September 15th Region 5-A tournament at the Champions Run Golf Course, in Rockvale, TN.

Clarksville Woman facing Theft Charge in Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Charity Theft Case

 

Tennessee Bureau of InvestigationNashville, TN – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has obtained an indictment for a Montgomery County woman accused of stealing from a charity fund she managed.

At the request of 19th District Attorney General John Carney, TBI Special Agents began investigating Christie Overstreet Hill on June 20th.

During the course of the investigation, Agents, along with the Clarksville Police Department, developed information that in July 2011, as manager of the Wounded Warriors Project Fund (which is not affiliated with the National Wounded Warrior Project), Hill transferred $20,150 from the group’s bank account to a personal account she opened in her name.

APSU’s New Governors Stadium to open this Saturday

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – For nearly seven decades, Governors Stadium has served as the home of Austin Peay State University football and track and field teams. But nothing in those 68 years compares to the stadium transformation that occurred since the 2013 Governors football campaign ended.

A ceremonial demolition of Governors Stadium began following the November 19th contest against Southeast Missouri. Despite the coldest winter in recent time, including ice conditions that shut down the University for three days, the construction crew lost just one day of work.

Clarksville Police charge Kevin Griffin II with False Report

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On August 23rd, 2014 at 11:51pm, the Clarksville Police Department responded to an Aggravated Assault. A nurse at the Gateway Medical Center’s ER reported that she had a patient with a gunshot wound.

The patient, Mr. Kevin Griffin II, had been shot one time in his left leg right above his knee. Mr. Griffin stated that after he had driven his vehicle away from a local gas station, the suspect who allegedly shot him followed him in his vehicle.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirms Remains as those of Holly Bobo

 

Tennessee Bureau of InvestigationJackson, TN – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation along with 24th District Attorney Matt Stowe and the Decatur County Sheriff, Keith Byrd, held a briefing last night at 10:00pm in Decaturville, TN.

During the briefing, TBI Director Mark Gwyn stated that the TBI was able to confirm through the findings of an odontologist that remains found off County Corner Road this weekend are of Holly Bobo.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Fans who’ve enjoyed Tailgate Alley the last few years might be wondering what the Governors Stadium renovation may mean for their favorite spot to meet and eat with fellow Austin Peay supporters prior to the game.

Fear not, for Austin Peay athletics is offering a new place to gather, grill and toss a football before heading into Governors Stadium. It starts at the newly configured Tailgate Plaza, which offers tailgate reservations for student and alumni organizations, as well as campus departments and affiliates in The Gilroy Tailgate Zone.
