Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for September 23rd through September 29th, 2014

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer. There are programs for children and adults.

Some of the upcoming events include: Wildflower Hike, Dunbar Cave History, Life of the Lake, National Public Lands Day Hike and Trail Cleanup, National Public Lands Day Hike at Port Royal, and Bird Hike.

Tuesday, September 23rd

Wildflower Hike

Time: 9:00am – 10:30am
Ages: adult

Learn some of the fall wildflowers on this easy ½ mile walk.

Reservations By: 4:30pm, September 21st

Wednesday, September 24th

Dunbar Cave History

Time: 5:45pm – 6:45pm
Ages: 5 to adult

Join us for a walk around the area and learn about Dunbar’s past.

Reservations By: 4:30pm, September 22nd.

Friday, September 26th

Life of the Lake

Time: 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Ages: All Ages

Learn what lives in the lake as the daytime animals are going to bed and the night animals are waking up.

Saturday, September 27th

National Public Lands Day Hike and Trail Cleanup

Time: 9:00am – 11:00am

Meet at the Visitor Center and hike two miles as we learn about plants and animals on the mildly strenuous Recovery Trail. We will pick up trash on the way. Bring your work gloves and water.

Reservations By: 4:30pm, September 25th.

National Public Lands Day Hike at Port Royal

Time: 3:00pm – 5:00pm

Enjoy a walk around the historical area and learn about the history of the old town and the Trail of Tears. Afterward we will make a short walk down to the river to clean the riverside.

Sunday, September 28th

Wildflower Hike

Time: 5:30pm – 6:30pm
Ages: 6 – adult

Learn some of the fall wildflowers on this easy ½ mile walk.

Monday, September 29th

Bird Hike

Time: 8:00am – 9:30am
Ages: Adult

Bring your binoculars and we will learn to identify birds by sight and sound.

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs Information

Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed. Programs with no reservations by the deadline will be canceled.

All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless another site is listed.

Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for each three children).

Age limits are definite – please do not sign up a child who is younger or older than the age limits given.

Dunbar Cave State Park is located at 401 Old Dunbar Cave Road, Clarksville Tennessee.
