Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University Junior Jessica Cathey, of Austin Peay State University women’s golf team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
Cathey was under 80 in all three rounds at the Jan Weaver-Murray State Invitational, shooting a 225 (76-74-75) to finish sixth overall, leading the Lady Govs to a tie for eighth.
The Hixson, Tennessee native hit just one birdie during the tournament, but was able to consistently get up and down en route to her season’s first top-10.The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.
Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included
- Junior libero April Adams, of the volleyball team, earned all-tournament honors at the WKU Invitational, compiling 45 digs (4.09/s) and reached double-digits in all three matches, including a season-best 18 kill effort against Western Michigan.
- Senior wide receiver Javier Booker, of the football team, caught six passes for 88 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown reception, in the Govs home opener against Chattanooga.
- Freshman Brittney Covington, of the women’s tennis team, won three singles matches in her first collegiate action at the Skyhawk Invitational, including a 6-1, 6-2 win against Southeast Missouri’s Anna Makhneva.
