APSU Athlete of the Week Jada Stotts

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Senior outside hitter Jada Stotts, of Austin Peay State University volleyball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Stotts led the Lady Govs with 75 kills in five matches, with the Lady Govs going 3-2 on the week, including a 3-0 upset at Tennessee. She was named to the DISH Lady Vol Classic All-Tournament team after posting 64 kills and a .315 attack percentage and leading Austin Peay to runner-up honors and a 3-1 mark in the tournament.

The Hoffman Estates, IL, native posted 17 kills and an impressive .424 attack percentage in Austin Peay’s sweep of the Lady Vols, and followed that with a season-best 22 kills against Montana State. She posted five double-doubles (all kill-dig) during the week.

Monday, Stotts was named adidas®/Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, her second career weekly honor from the league. She also earned Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week honors as well.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Junior Austin Kramer, of the men’s golf team, posted the best two rounds of his Austin Peay career in the first two rounds at the Golf Week Challenge before sliding back a bit on the final day, concluding with a 221 (70-72-79) to tie for 13th.
  • Senior defensive tackle Malcolm Goines, of the football team, was credited with a career-high nine tackles (five solo) and a tackle for loss in the Govs loss at Eastern Illinois.
  • Senior Jovana Karac, of the women’s tennis team, won three singles matches last weekend in Austin Peay’s fall home tournament, the APSU Invitational. All three victories came against Ohio Valley Conference opponents.
  • Junior Jessica Cathey, of the women’s golf team, tied for ninth with a nine-over par 153 (76-77), her second straight top-10 finish, at the Saluki Shootout.
  • Junior setter Aubrey Marsellis, of the volleyball team, all earned all-tournament honors at the DISH Lady Vol Classic, with 150 assists, 17 kills and 12 blocks. She had 45 assists in both a non-tournament contest against Chattanooga and in the Lady Govs four-set win against Montana State. For her efforts, Marsellis earned OVC Setter of the Week honors.
  • Sophomore forward/midfielder Gina Fabbro, of the soccer team, broke a long scoring drought for the Lady Govs with a fourth-minute header against Samford, Friday.
