Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – After gaining a win and a loss in its home meet, the Austin Peay State University women’s cross country team will receive a look at a course it will see again in the near future.

The Lady Govs will compete in the JSU Foothills Invitational, hosted by Ohio Valley Conference rival Jacksonville State starting 9:15am, Saturday, at Oxford Lake and Recreation Center.

In the APSU Invitational the Lady Govs fell to Murray State, but defeated Bethel in the five kilometer race.  The Lady Govs were led by senior Jessica Grey, who finished sixth with a personal-best 19:37.

She was followed by freshmen Sarah-Emily Woodward (8th, 19:57) and Becca Wheeler (10th, 20:15).  The Lady Govs scoring was rounded out by Natalie Olberding (12th, 20:54) and Sarah Carpenter (16th, 21:35).

Oxford Lake and Recreation Center will also serve as hosts for the Ohio Valley Conference Championships on November 1st.  This will enable the Govs to become familiar with the course before the OVC Championships and its lack of hills could allow for some encouraging results.

“It’s huge for us to get to see the course before we compete in the OVC Championship,” said head coach Doug Molnar.  “It’s a great opportunity to gain some confidence and post some personal records.”

After competing in Oxford, the Lady Govs will have another bye week before returning to the action in the UE Cross Country Invitational hosted by Evansville.  The five kilometer race will be held at 11:00am, October 18th, at Angel Mounds State Historic Site in Evansville, Indiana.
