Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include: The Indoor Aquatic Center, Youth Basketball League registration, Fun with Fido at Bark in the Park costume contest, and Fright on Franklin Costume Contest.

The Indoor Aquatic Center is now Open

Indoor Aquatic Center - New ProvidenceThe Indoor Aquatic Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, has opened its doors for the indoor season!

The Center is open Monday through Thursday from 6:30am to noon and 3:00pm to 8:00pm. Friday hours are 6:30am to noon and 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Saturday the Center is open from noon to 6:00pm and Sunday from 1:00pm to 6:00pm.

Pool passes are available year-round and can be purchased at the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Main Office located at 102 Public Square or at the pool. Daily admission is also available for $3.00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Tuesdays you can get into the pool for only $1.00 and Thursdays are buy-one-get-one-free admission days. Weekend admission is $5.00. Wibit and climbing wall use is an additional $2.00, excluding Wednesdays, when these fun features are free to pool-goers!

Youth Basketball League registration ends October 6th

BasketballIs your child interested in playing basketball this winter? Clarksville Parks and Recreation is proud to offer a Youth Basketball League for boys and girls ages 7 to 15. The cost is $65.00 per player. Each player will receive a jersey, water bottle and award.

Registration is available online at http://recpro.cityofclarksville.com . Registration is also available at the Kleeman Community Center, Crow Community Center and Burt-Cobb Community Center, as well as at the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Main.

Practices will be held at local school gymnasiums beginning November 3rd and games will be held at the City’s three community centers beginning December 6th.

Fun with Fido at Bark in the Park

Bark in the Park to feature dog-friendly costume contests
Bark in the Park set for Saturday, October 11th, 2014.Bring your 4-legged family members for a day of contests, prizes and more at Bark in the Park, Saturday, October 11th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at King’s Run Bark Park located at Liberty Park. Admission is free!

The event will kick-off at 1:00pm, followed by a small dog (under 30 pounds) costume contest at 2:00pm, and a large dog (30 pounds or more) costume contest at 3:00pm. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finalists! There is no cost to enter the costume contest. Register at the event. All registrants must be present 15-minutes prior to contest start time.

Fright on Franklin Costume Contest

Registration Now Available

Fright on Franklin Street.Fright on Franklin, the City’s annual Halloween festival, will take place on Saturday, October 25th, in Downtown Clarksville from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. At this time, Clarksville Parks and Recreation is accepting costume contest registration at http://recpro.cityofclarksville.com. Space is limited and filling quickly.

Categories include newborn to two-years-old at 3:30pm, three- to six-years-old at 4:00pm, seven- to nine-years-old at 4:30pm, 10- to 12-years-old at 5:00pm, group costumes at 5:30pm, and original costumes at 6:00pm. Preference will be given to original costumes in all age categories. Registrants are asked to arrive 15-minutes prior to their scheduled time to check-in.

Fright on Franklin will also feature 70 trick-or-treat booths, a haunted house, a hayride and food vendors! Like us on Facebook for inside information on all the upcoming festivities.
