Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces “Art on the Park” contest winners

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is happy to announce the winners of this year’s “Art on the Park” contest.

The five finalists and grand prize winner will receive their framed artwork and the opportunity to paint their design on various walls of the Heritage Park Skatepark.

The grand prize winner, Emily Selby of New Providence Middle School, was awarded a $100.00 gift card from Wal-Mart and a t-shirt featuring her artwork.  The remaining finalists each received a $25.00 gift card from Wal-Mart.

Finalists include: Jasmine Robinson of Kenwood High School, Breahna Humphrey of Kenwood High School, Dakota Woodward of Northeast High School, Brizeyda Ramon Rajos of Northeast High School, and Aniseya White of West Creek Middle School.

Painting of the winning murals will begin this Saturday, October 11th at 8:00am. The project will last over several days until completion.

This is the third “Art on the Park” contest held by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department.  The contest takes place every two years in order to beautify the Heritage Park Skatepark and deter graffiti.

The contest was open to students in grades 6-12 who submitted artwork on 11” x 17” size poster board.  Mural painting on the Heritage Park Skatepark was sponsored by the City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department, PPG Porter Paints, and Valspar.
