Austin Peay State University Women’s Tennis has two players headed to ITA Regionals in Knoxville

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis will send a pair of seniors to the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Tournament, hosted by Tennessee, beginning Friday at the Knoxville Racquet Club.

The tournament will begin with prequalifying doubles play followed by the prequalifying singles rounds.  Play continues through Tuesday.

Ornella Di Salvo will represent the Lady Govs in both singles and doubles play.  In singles action, Di Salvo will take on Xavier’s Daniella Patton, noon, Friday.  Patton recorded a 19-12 singles record during the 2014 campaign.

The winner of this match advance to a 3:00pm, Friday match with an opportunity to advance to the main draw which begins Saturday.

Di Salvo will pair up with Vanessa Tavares in 8:00am, Friday doubles action against Western Kentucky’s Emilia Granstrom and Andreanna Christopoulou. Granstrom was ranked in the top-five players in Sweden under the age of 18 and is a two-time Swedish National Champion while Christopoulou was the top-ranked junior in Greece in 2010.

The winners will advance to play at 9:30am with a chance of advancing to the main draw on Saturday.
