Austin Peay Women’s Cross County set for OVC Championships

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Having claimed second place in each of their last three meets, Austin Peay State University women’s cross country will open its postseason when it takes part in the Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Championships, 9:00am, Saturday, at Oxford Lake and Recreation Center in Oxford, Alabama.

The Lady Govs will be led by senior Jessica Gray, who has recorded three top-10 finishes on the season including a sixth-place finish at the APSU Invitational.

She will be joined up front by sophomore Molly Jordan who has recorded two top-10 finishes on the season, including a team-best seventh place at the JSU Foothills Invitational, also held at Oxford Lake, October 4th.

Freshmen Becca Wheeler and Sarah-Emily Woodward also look to continue their success at Oxford Lake. Both of the young runners finished at the top-15 at the Foothills Invitational and claimed two top-10 performances apiece.

The No. 5 position for the Lady Govs could be claimed by a few different runners.  Junior Alexis Eldridge finished in the final scoring position at the UE Cross Country Invitational on October 18th, while sophomore Unjala Lester has scored points on two occasions and junior Natalie Olberding claimed a 12th-place finish overall at the APSU Invitational.

Following the OVC Championship, the Lady Govs will have a week away from competition before they take part in the NCAA South Regionals, November 14th, in Tallahassee, Florida.
