Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team opened the 2014-15 early signing period, Wednesday, by adding to its middle infield with shortstop Kendall Vedder of Palmetto, FL being added to the fold.
The 5-foot-9 middle infielder was named to the Bradenton Herald All-Area Team after her junior season after she led the Tigers with a.603 slugging percentage and finishing with a .397 batting average.She drove in 22 runs and scored 22 and had a .453 on-base percentage.
“I made the decision in June,” said Vedder, in an interview with the Bradenton Herald. “But I knew the second I walked on campus it was the place for me. I loved the coaches, the people there and the area, everything was just perfect.
“Definitely a lot of weight off the shoulders. Now I can just go out there and play and have fun. I’m still going to play my best, but mostly have fun and just get it done.”
Vedder has been a starter since her freshman year, earning honorable mention all-area honors as a freshman and sophomore, with her team winning the 6-A district title as a sophomore and finishing runner-up in Region 12.
She is also a standout in the class room, carrying a 4.4 grade-point average, while being named to the National Honor Society and all-area academic team while earning an academic letter.
