Clarksville Parks and Recreation Report for November 23rd, 2014

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include: Soccer Shots Registration, Toddler Splash, Community Centers celebrate the holidays, and Swim with Santa.

Swim with Santa

Soccer Shots Registration begins November 24th

The Kleeman and Crow Community Centers are excited to host Soccer Shots next year. Soccer Shots is the national leader in youth soccer development for children ages 2-5. This program introduces children to fundamental soccer principles by using fun games, songs, and positive reinforcement.

Soccer Shots will be held January 7th through March 7th, 2015 and offers two levels of classes that meet once weekly: Mini (ages 2-3, Cost: $100.00) and Classic (ages 3-5, Cost: $115.00). Toddler Splash

Don’t miss the next Toddler Splash Pool Party on Wednesday, December 3rd. This monthly event for children ages 5-years-old and younger, takes place on the first Wednesday of every month from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Indoor Aquatic Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane.

At Toddler Splash, kids can enjoy activities each month such as, water games, crafts and other seasonal fun! Cost to attend is $3.00 per person, including adults. A parent or adult guardian must accompany toddlers in the water. This event will allow youngsters to enjoy getting acquainted with the water or practicing previously learned water safety skills. Pre-registration is available at recpro.cityofclarksville.com and is encouraged.

Community Centers celebrate the Holidays

Gets Visits from Santa’s elves!

Santa’s elves will be making appearances to spread cheer at each of our three community centers this December. Families are welcome to have photos taken of their children as they visit Santa’s elves, enjoy snacks and games, all at no cost.

The Kleeman Community Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, will host Snowflakes with Santa on Wednesday, December 10th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Kids can create their own snowflake craft, listen to holiday music, enjoy refreshments, and take photos with Santa Claus!

The Burt-Cobb Community Center, located at 1011 Franklin Street, will host a Community Christmas Party on Thursday, December 11th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. The Center will host games, food and opportunities to write a letter to Santa.

Young and old alike may enjoy cookies, punch, and merriment at the Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm on Monday, December 15th. You can write your letter to Mr. Claus and send it along with his elves!

Swim with Santa

This year your child can ‘Swim with Santa’ at the Indoor Aquatic Center! Santa will be visiting the pool from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday, December 13th. Families can enjoy refreshments, crafts, a photo booth and swimming!

When Santa heads back to the North Pole, feel free to stick around and swim! Cost is $3.00 and includes admission to the pool. Everyone entering the facility must pay admission.
