Clarksville High Lady Wildcats Basketball rally runs out of gas in 60-50 loss to Gallatin

Clarksville High School WildcatsServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – Clarksville High School girls basketball team cut an 18-point first-half deficit to Gallatin High School down to just two points in the fourth quarter, Tuesday November 25th at William Workman Gymnasium, but couldn’t clear that final hurdle in a 60-50 loss.

The Lady Wildcats (0-6) were buried under a barge of 3s by the Lady Green Wave in the first 5:30 minutes of the game, with Gallatin (4-2) hitting five shots from beyond the arc to build a 23-5 advantage.

Overall, the Lady Green Wave hit nine 3s in the game against Clarksville High.

The Lady Wildcats would run off six straight points to cut the Gallatin lead down to 12 points, with one minute left in the opening quarter, but trailed the Lady Green Wave 25-11 after the first eight minutes of play.

The second quarter would see Gallatin build its lead back out to 18 points, 35-17, with 4:08 left before intermission – as they knocked down two more threes.

But starting with a bucket from Haley Bearden, with 3:39 left in the period, the Lady Wildcats started their comeback by outscoring the Lady Green Wave 12-6 to trail at halftime by 12 points, 41-29.

Bearden would lead Clarksville High with 12 points, the lone Lady Wildcat to reach double figures.

That late first-half surge carried over into the second half for CHS, as they cut the Gallatin lead under double figures for the first time since the opening minutes of the game, 43-35, on a Bearden basket with 4:37 left in the third quarter.

The rally would continue to build for Clarksville High, with the Lady Wildcats getting 3s from DeeDee Carter and Aliyah Miller in the closing minutes of the period to cut the Gallatin lead down to just five points, 48-43, heading into the final eight minutes of play.

Clarksville High would score the first three points of the final quarter to get to within two points, 48-46, following a basket from Ta’Tayana Outlaw with 6:25 left in the game – the closest they Lady Wildcats had been since Gallatin opened the game by scoring the first six points of the contest.

But that would be as close as the Lady Wildcats would get the rest of the way, with the Lady Green Wave running off seven straight points to go back up by nine, 55-46 with 4:10 left.

Clarksville High wouldn’t get any closer than five points the rest of the way, as Gallatin pulled away in the final four minutes for the 10-point victory.
