Northeast High School EaglesServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – Northeast High School opened their District 10-AAA game versus Henry County High School, Tuesday, December 9th, by hitting three straight 3s to jump out to an 11-3 lead on their way to a 60-44 victory over the Patriots.

Nick Green would get things going for Northeast (5-3, 2-1 District 10-AAA) with a three to tie the game for the only time on the night at the 6:34 mark, followed by back-to-back 3s from Jontae’ Brown to give the Eagles a 9-3 advantage.

Brown would lead all scorers with 19 points, while Green added 11.

Jaylon Tharpe – who scored 10 points in the game — would close the run with a bucket at the 4:03 mark, with Henry County (4-5, 1-2 District 10-AAA) ending its 4:14 scoreless drought with a bucket from Jamison Hayes to make it 11-5.

The Patriots would get as close as five points a couple of times in the opening quarter, before a late three by D’Andre Cross gave the Eagles a 16-8 advantage after one quarter of play.

Cross finished with 16 points.

Henry County would open the second quarter scoring with a bucket from Carson Ray, to make it a six-point game, but Northeast would slowly pull away as the quarter went on building a double-figure advantage at the 3:49 mark, 22-12, following an old-fashioned three-point play by Tharpe.

The Patriots would answer back with their only back-to-back baskets of the first half to cut the Eagles lead to six points, 22-16 with 2:09 left before intermission.

But Northeast would close out the first half by outscoring the Patriots 8-2 to take their largest lead of the game, 12 points, into halftime with a 30-18 advantage.

The second half would see the Eagles extend its lead out to as many as 16 points, 39-23, with 3:18 left in the period following a three-point play by Brown.

Henry County would finally get its offense going over the final 3:11 of the quarter, scoring nine points and cutting the Eagles lead down to 11 points, 43-32, heading into the final eight minutes of play.

That scoring push carried over into the fourth quarter for the Patriots, as they were able to cut the Northeast lead down to seven points, 49-42 with 3:16 left in the game.

But that would be as close as the Patriots would get, with Northeast only allowing Henry County one more field goal over the final three minutes – while knocking down nine of 12 free throw attempts in the final two minutes to come away with the 16-point victory.

Northeast returns to action December 12th by hosting Rossview High School in a 7:30p.m. District 10-AAA contest.
