264th Combat Communications Squadron soldier returns home from Liberia, Ebola free

United States Africa CommandPeoria, IL – A cyber transport systems specialist with Peoria’s 264th Combat Communications Squadron returned home in November from the fight against the Ebola epidemic in Africa. There, he and his unit led the way in building up communications for hospital training centers as part of Operation United Assistance.

Air Force Tech. Sgt. Benjamin Springsteen, a Chicago suburb native, was augmenting the Joint Communications Support Element at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, when he was handpicked for deployment to Liberia.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Tai Chi program to begin at Crow Community Center February 3rd

 

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road, will host a new session of Tai Chi! Tai Chi will take place Tuesdays from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, February 3rd through March 24th.

AAATampa, FL – Whether you are attending or hosting a Super Bowl party, AAA wants everyone to celebrate safely. For those going out this weekend, that means having a Designated Driver.

You can also call a cab or stay where you are celebrating.

Whether you are a AAA member or not, you can call for a Tow to Go ride anytime Friday through Sunday night. AAA will then safely transport you and your vehicle home or somewhere safe within 10 miles.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – One of the greatest Golf Governors in Austin Peay State University history plus a former football standout who returned to his alma mater to help guide the program to its only Ohio Valley Conference title were inducted into the APSU Athletics Hall of Fame, Saturday morning in a breakfast ceremony in the Dunn Center’s Hall of Fame lobby.

In addition, a former superb basketball player from Austin Peay’s small college era was enshrined as part of the Hall of Fame’s Honors category.

Clarksville Police Officers Gather to Support of a Local Girl Diagnosed with Leukemia

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Thursday, January 29th, 2015 at 9:30am, Officers from the Clarksville Police Department gathered to take a photo for Jenna King.

Jenna King is a local 9-year-old girl who was recently diagnosed with leukemia. She immediately began her treatments and will be receiving Chemotherapy treatments for the next two years.

Detective Candace Rundle came up with the idea because she knows Jenna King’s family personally.

Austin Peay State University Men’s Golf picked second, Women’s Golf seventh in OVC preseason poll

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – The young Austin Peay State University men’s golf team has been picked to finish second in the Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll as picked by the league men’s coaches. Meanwhile, the Lady Govs were chosen seventh on the women’s side.

Defending champion Jacksonville State, with 95 points, was picked to win the men’s championship while Morehead State (77 points) got the nod on the women’s side.
