The department named 157 student-athletes to the Fall 2014 Athletics Director’s Honor Roll, representing 47.5 percent of the department’s student-athletes. Eight of the department’s 16 teams posted a 3.0 GPA for the semester, led by the women’s cross-country team which posted a 3.59 GPA. Five of the team’s eight members were named to the dean’s list, including one that received president’s list honors.

“We were pleased with the performance by some of our programs in the fall semester,” said Austin Peay athletics director Derek van der Merwe. “However, we must continue to stress the importance of our classroom performance to all of our student-athletes. Excellence in the classroom is a key pillar of the culture we want to build and grow at Austin Peay.”

The other teams posting 3.0 or better GPAs were men’s tennis (3.52), women’s soccer (3.50), dance (3.43), volleyball (3.31), women’s basketball (3.24), women’s tennis (3.21) and women’s golf (3.21).
