Sidney Brown motivates youth and receives contribution for scholarship endowment from LEAP

LEAP OrganizationClarksville, TN – On Wednesday, February 11th, 2015, CSM(R) Sidney Brown was presented a $500.00 check by City Councilman Richard Garrett on behalf of the LEAP Organization to support the APSU CSM(R) Sidney Brown Scholarship Endowment which benefits active duty military, veteran students, their spouses and children, and APSU ROTC cadets.

After receiving the donation, CSM(R) Brown delivered a message to youth enrolled in the LEAP youth development program encouraging them to pursue higher learning opportunities at collegiate institutions to aid them in reaching their goals.

He also shared how serving in the Army for over 30 years taught him a lot about leadership, teamwork, and personal sacrifices to meet the needs of others.

“As the Executive Director of LEAP Youth Development Organization, an elected City Councilman for Ward 1, and a member of the APSU Military Alumni Chapter, I am honored to acknowledge the great accomplishments of CSM(R) Sidney Brown.” commented Richard Garrett.

“I have learned that CSM(R) Sidney Brown is a man with a rich history that complements today’s need to adequately support youth educational programs to build stronger community members. As I enhance the LEAP Organizational platform and work within the city as an elected official, I can appreciate the selfless service rendered by CSM(R) Sidney Brown as a County Commissioner and Veteran advocate,” said Garrett. “It is my prayer that this community comes together to establish this scholarship endowment and that CSM(R) Sidney Brown can witness the fruits of this esteemed honor that is bestowed upon him.”

City Councilman Richard "Reason" Garrett has gained extensive business knowledge and negotiating skills as the Executive Director of the LEAP Organization.  LEAP Org provides youth development services.  As a licensed realtor for Keller Williams Realty, he is known for his tenacity, perseverance, honesty, and fairness.  A proud APSU alum, Richard graduated with Honors with a Bachelors in Public Management.
Richard is a former active duty Marine, father of 4, and a husband with strong ties to the community. He is a graduate of Leadership Clarksville and a member of Clarksville Rotary, Clarksville Area Ministerial Association, Chamber of Commerce, Clarksville Association of Realtors Public Relations & Charity Relations Committees, and Clarksville Community Partners Group.
