City of Clarksville opens Burt-Cobb Community Center as Emergency Shelter

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan is announcing that the Burt-Cobb Community Center in Clarksville will be opened at 3:00pm for use as a temporary emergency shelter.

“We have been in contact with our community partners this afternoon and we believe that, based on the number of beds available at those shelters along with the predicted treacherous weather, it is in everyone’s best interest to open the additional shelter,” said Mayor McMillan.

The shelter at Burt-Cobb will be open at least until noon on Tuesday.  At that time, a determination will be made as to whether additional space will be needed.  The shelter will be staffed by the City’s Parks and Recreation Department.

“Again, I appreciate our community partners, as well as our team at the City’s Office of Housing and Community Development and the Parks and Recreation Department, who are making every effort to provide a safe and warm place for everyone in Clarksville,” Mayor McMillan said.

The Burt-Cobb Community Center is located at 1011 Franklin Street, Clarksville, TN 37040.
