Clarksville Montgomery County School System announces Administrative Appointments

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System - CMCSSMontgomery County, TN – Dr. Bryan Johnson, who is serving as director of high schools for CMCSS, has been named Chief Academic Officer.  Dr. Johnson, who earned his doctorate from Trevecca Nazarene University, served as principal of Northwest High School for two years and was assistant principal of West Creek High School for two years.

He has worked in CMCSS since 2007, beginning his tenure as an assistant football coach at Clarksville High School, then as head football coach at Northeast High School, where he taught special education.  He earned his masters of arts in teaching from Belmont University and his bachelors of business administration from Austin Peay State University.

Janet Staggs, who has been principal at Woodlawn Elementary School for eight years, was selected as principal for East Montgomery Elementary School. Staggs replaces Tracy McPherson who has accepted a principalship in Metro Nashville Public Schools. Prior to her tenure as Woodlawn principal, Staggs served as assistant principal at Woodlawn.

She began work in CMCSS as a teacher at Northeast Elementary School in 1997. She earned her master’s in education, educational leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University, and her B.S. in education from Austin Peay State University.

Meanwhile, Shery Winn has been named assistant principal at Sango Elementary, replacing Erin Hedrick who became principal when Emily Vaughn took on the role of director of curriculum and instruction for elementary and middle schools. Winn joined CMCSS in 1996 as a teacher at Montgomery Central Elementary.

She also taught for eight years at Cumberland Heights Elementary School, and, since 2007 has been the academic coach for Montgomery Central Elementary. She earned her M.A. in education, administration and supervision from Trevecca Nazarene University and her B.S. in interdisciplinary studies from Austin Peay State University.

Stacy Maley, who currently teaches math at Kenwood Middle School, has been named assistant principal at West Creek Middle School. She replaced Loralee BeCraft, who was named assistant principal at Glenellen Elementary. She earned a master’s degree in administration and in curriculum and instruction from Cumberland University. She earned her B.S. in education from Austin Peay State University.
