Jones broke the Austin Peay indoor 400m record – again – at last weekend’s Alex Wilson Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, IN with a 53.96 run.

According to research, that is the best mark posted by an OVC athlete in the 400m event this century.

Jones’ mark not only leads the OVC by 1.32 seconds, it also ranks 40th nationally entering this weekend’s OVC Championships, hosted by Eastern Illinois.

For the Memphis Tennessee native, this is her sixth career indoor weekly honor from the conference. She shares this week’s award with Southeast Missouri’s Ayonna Cartwright.

With this award, Jones becomes the first OVC athlete – male or female, indoor or outdoor – to win at least five Athlete of the Week honors in one season since Eastern Kentucky’s Lydia Kosgei was a six-time winner during the 2011-12 indoor track and field season.
