Clarksville, TN – After dropping the doubles point, the Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team was able to rally as the Govs defeated Southern Indiana 5-2, Wednesday, at the Austin Peay Indoor Tennis Center.
In doubles play, the No. 2 pairing of sophomore Aaron Jumonville and senior Aleksas Tverijonas claimed an 8-3 decision for Austin Peay (4-2).Unfortunately, Southern Indiana (4-1) earned 8-6 victories in the other two matches to claim the doubles point.
In singles action, the Governors were led by Jumonville who cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 3 slot while Tverijonas claimed a 6-2, 6-2 victory at the No. 2 position. In other singles matches, senior Dimitar Ristovski earned a 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles while senior Iago Seffrin clinched the match for the Govs with a 7-5, 6-2 win at the No. 4 position. Sophomore James Mitchell also claimed a 2-6, 7-6 (4),11-9 win at No. 5 singles.
The Govs return to the court with a noon, Saturday contest against Lindsey Wilson at the Austin Peay Indoor Tennis Center.
