Clarksville – Montgomery County under Flood Watch beginning Tuesday afternoon

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Clarksville-Montgomery County and a portion of Middle Tennessee from 6:00pm Tuesday evening through 6:00pm Wednesday afternoon.

A strong upper level low pressure system will bring 1 to 3 inches of rain to the region. With the highest amounts north and west of Nashville.

Rain will switch to mixed precipitation and snow later on Wednesday.

In addition, warmer high temperatures in the 60s on Tuesday will melt remaining ice and snow across the region and keep the ground saturated before the onset of heavier rainfall.

This will increase the risk for flood potential later on Tuesday and into the day on Wednesday before temperatures fall below freezing across the area.

Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches combined with a saturated ground layer from previous winter storm events will increase the risk for flooding across the area.

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
