Just this past week, the Memphis, TN native picked up her fifth adidas®/Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Female Track Athlete of the Week honor becoming the first OVC track athlete – male or female – to take the conference’s top weekly honor at least five times in a year since the 2011-12 season.

So it’s not a surprise to anyone that in Austin Peay finishing a solid fifth in this past weekend’s Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship at Charleston, IL, with 82 total points that Jones accounting for 26 of those points in the final day – either as an individual or as part of a relay team.

Jones opened things by continuing to dominate her specialty in the 400m dash, taking the gold medal with a time of 55.57 – which was over a half a second faster than the runner-up from Eastern Illinois.

Not only is she the best 400m competitor in the OVC, Jones is one of the best in the country with one of the top-40 times posted this year.

She followed that with silver in the 200m dash, with a time of 24.88, just six 100th of a second off the winning time.

Finally, Jones joined Jessica Gray, Michaela McGhee and Terri Morris with a silver-medal winning effort in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:50.16.

But as great as her success has been this season in the indoor part of the Lady Govs schedule, in three weeks the outdoor season begins — at the Georgia Invitational – where Jones will begin her ascent to return to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

This past spring Jones became the first Lady Gov to make the championships since 2001 with the seventh best time at the NCAA East Preliminaries – which was also one of the top 24 qualifying times in the nation in 2014.

A lot was expected out of Jones in the indoor season, after a big 2014, and she didn’t disappoint. With the outdoor season looming don’t expect any less from Jones, she always seems to rise to the expectations. The best always do.
