Brentwood, TN – Two Govs were ranked among the top 10 players and Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team was picked to place third in the Ohio Valley Conference preseason men’s team and player rankings, released Thursday.
“I feel good about our team,” said head coach Ross Brown. “This shows we are definitely in the mix for a conference championship.”
The Govs were picked as the third best squad in the conference; with 52 total points.  Defending OVC champion Jacksonville State and defending OVC regular-season co-champion Belmont finished tied for first with 59 points.
Tennessee Tech was picked fourth (43 points), with Eastern Kentucky (39 points) and SIU Edwardsville (31) rounding out the top six.
“We have to improve as the season goes on,” Brown said. “I think this is a fairly accurate placing of us at this stage .”
Austin Peay, which owns a 4-3 record, returns to action with a 2:00pm, Saturday match at Kennesaw State.
