Austin Peay’s Karla Tucker to present “Thin Skin,” a senior thesis solo exhibition at APSU’s Trahern Gallery 108

APSU Department of Art - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Karla Tucker, a graduating senior from Austin Peay State University’s Department of Art, will be exhibiting “Thin Skin,” a series of wax-encased photographs. The exhibition will run March 16th-19th, 2015 at APSU’s Trahern Gallery 108.

There will be a closing reception, free to the public, on Thursday, March 19th from 5:00pm-8:00pm.

Between her layers of encaustic wax and photography, Tucker allows the viewers to see into private moments and offers thoughts on the everyday struggle of being satisfied with who you really are.

“A photograph is a two-dimensional image of the three-dimensional world. It’s framed from inside the camera, leaving the viewers to only see what the artist intended for them to see. As human beings, we frame ourselves and our lives in a similar way,” Tucker said.

Tucker is an award-winning local artist living and working in Clarksville. Upon graduation, she plans to continue her studies in art and pursue a Master of Fine Arts.
