As ever, it was junior Breigh Jones who led the way for Austin Peay. The mighty Memphian broke 54 seconds in her first outdoor 400m attempt in 2015, winning the event with a 53.99 mark.

She later came back and led a 4x400m relay squad also featuring senior Jessica Gray, junior Michaela McGhee and freshman Allysha Scott to a win in that event thanks to a 3:551.85 mark.

Scott also stepped up with a personal-best in the 400m outdoor with a 58.39 mark, placing seventh. Gray was fourth in the 800m with a 2:11.94 run.

Senior Erika Adams won the 100m dash thanks to a 12.16 mark, narrowly edging Illinois’ Breeana Coleman by one-hundredth of a second for the victory. Adams, Jones, freshman Sonja White and junior Lamontra Robinson also were runners-up in the 4x100m relay, finishing behind OVC foe Tennessee State with a 46.70 run.

In the hurdles, senior Natalie Olberding was runner-up in the 400m event with a 1:02.24 mark. Sophomore Myiah Johnson‘s 14.33 mark in the 100m hurdles was a season-best, and earned her fifth in the event.

In late Friday action, sophomore Kaylnn Pitts made it back-to-back triple jump wins with a season-best 12.28m mark; classmate Chancis Jones also earned a top-five with an 11.54m mark. Both also earned top-five finishes in Saturday’s long jump – Pitts was third (5.56m) and Jones was fourth (5.49m) – but Austin Peay was led by sophomore Amia Butler‘s runner-up finish and 5.75m mark.

Although most of Austin Peay’s contingent will take next weekend off, a handful of athletes will compete at the Margaret Simmons Invitational in Murray, KY, with Jones and Adams scheduled to compete at the Florida Relays.
